It’s really easy to get immersed in your work. This is especially true for entrepreneurs who are passionate about their business and have worked hard to turn their dreams into reality. The question is: Where do you draw the line between work and life, especially when your work is your life? Finding the right work-life balance is not an easy task and everyone has, at some point, struggled with it.
But there are a few things you can do, and it starts with properly managing your time. Define your workweek (e.g. Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm) and discipline yourself to adhere to it. Then, for instance, when you’re trying to schedule a meeting outside of your set work hours, ask yourself: Is it really necessary? More often than not, it’s not. By creating a schedule for yourself and using simple tools such as Google Calendar, you can better manage your time, increase your efficiency and set the boundary between work and life.
In a recent article Ellen White makes an excellent point that balance is not just about freeing up your personal time but it is also about running a smart business. Check out her “Ten Sensible Tips to Achieve Work Life Balance” .
Now get outside and enjoy some time with family and friends this memorial day!
What about you? What do you do to manage your time and be as productive as possible?
